Welcome to the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (AOPT)! We are the largest and one of the fastest growing Academies of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

The Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy leads the physical therapy field in research, practice and education so that members deliver care that is evidenceā€based, innovative, and effective. Chair:  James Spencer, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS

James Spencer received his MSPT in 2006 from Northeastern University in Boston. He later earned his tDPT and OCS while working as a traveling Physical Therapist for over 10 years in a variety of clinical settings across 7 states. James now resides full time in Aspen, CO. He works full time as an outpatient and emergency PT for Aspen Valley Hospital's satellite clinic on Snowmass Mountain. Outside of the clinic, James has volunteered within APTA and FSBPT in many state and national roles. He has previously Chaired the AOPT Membership and Nominating Committees and has served as the Academy's Federal Affairs Liaison.

Committee Members: Marcia Spoto, Molly Malloy, Jim Dauber, Kathleen Geist, Emma Williams White, Gretchen Johnson.

The Practice Committee comprises the Chair and 7 members, all of whom are Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy members.  Term limits are 3-year staggered terms.  If you are interested in serving on the Practice Committee, please click here to fill out the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Involvement Form.
